Wigan Council Special Provision Consultation

In March to April 2018 Wigan Council carried out an extensive informal consultation across the borough to gather your views on our current and future specialist provision. They wanted to ensure that any plans they develop for the future were co-produced with our children and young people, families and all of our settings and partners.

In December 2018, Cabinet agreed that they could ask your views on the strategy to take a phased approach to the Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) buildings programme, as outlined in this consultation.

This proposed strategy will affect Hope School. Our current school does not have the space required to provide additional places needed. There are also condition issues that need to be addressed and therefore the proposal is to build a new school on a new site on Montrose Avenue (The old PEMBEC/Central Park site). As part of this project we will build in additional capacity to meet current and future demand for places.

Please use the below links to read the full strategy, and also to complete a survey with your views. We encourage all parents, carers and staff to let the Council know your thoughts on the proposal.

The consultation will be open from Monday 28th January 2019 and will close on Friday 1st March 2019
