Key Stage 3 – Hope School and College

The students in the Senior Department continue to follow their assessed pathway with a strong emphasis on personal development.

At Key stage 3 all students access Communication, Language and Literacy, Problem Solving and Maths, Personal, Social and Emotional Development and Physical Development at an appropriate level; the other curriculum subjects are taught through cross curricular sessions with a functional element built into to lessons.

Our personalised learning programmes are designed to be fun, purposeful and relevant to the students’ individual need.

Students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties at Key stage 3 and 4 follow the Sensory pathway, focusing on Early Communication and Cognitive skills. As in all departments Communication underpins all areas of the Sensory Curriculum and is supported through spoken language, use of signing, visual cues and high and low tech communication aids. The creative topic choices provide effective and stimulating teaching programmes suitable for each individual learner.
