The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) programme provides students with opportunities to develop confidence, independence, resilience, and essential life skills through a range of challenging and rewarding activities. At Hope School and College, we support learners to complete the Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition sections by engaging in meaningful community projects, developing practical abilities, improving personal fitness, and working collaboratively outdoors. Through structured guidance and real-life experiences, students learn to set goals, overcome challenges, build teamwork and communication skills, and take greater responsibility for their own development. The DofE journey helps young people grow in confidence, enhance their employability skills, and prepare for further education, employment, and independent living.
For many of our learners, DofE also provides valuable opportunities to apply Functional Skills in real-world contexts, strengthening problem-solving, planning, communication, literacy, and numeracy skills while celebrating personal achievement and success.
