Key Stage 2

In Key Stage 2, pupils are taught within our Primary Department and follow either our school Engagement Curriculum or the National Curriculum, depending on their individual needs and learning pathways. Classes are carefully organised to take account of each child’s developmental stage, individual needs and friendships, helping to promote wellbeing, confidence and positive relationships while enabling every pupil to thrive and achieve their full potential. Learning is delivered through a thematic curriculum and may be accessed through complex, pre-formal, semi-formal or formal pathways, ensuring that all pupils experience a broad, balanced and meaningful curriculum that is tailored to their abilities and interests. Throughout Key Stage 2, children are supported to develop increasing independence, communication and learning skills. In Year 6, transition activities are embedded within the curriculum to help prepare pupils for the next stage of their education, ensuring they feel confident, supported and ready for the move into our secondary provision.
